The purpose of my TIP is to see the effect of offline versus online collaboration on student performance for AP science free-response questions. I am conducting individual testing after each round of collaboration to see if there is a residual effect on student performance after collaboration.
The design now consists of a 25-minute round of collaboration between 2-5 students followed by a 25-minute round of individual
work. Students fill out individual surveys on their perception of their mastery of the topic being tested before each round and at the end. The former data collections will give me an objective, quantitative measure of group and individual student performance, while the latter data collection will give me a subjective, quantitative measure of student performance.For these rounds, my AP Chemistry students used all the available time but my AP Physics B students finished early (18 minutes used for collaboration and 10 minutes used for individual work).

First off I would like to apologize for calling you Paul in my last comment, sorry, I was trying to do too many things at once, and failing.
Secondly, to say that I can only wonder how difficult it is to try and keep a level of normality in your classroom with all that is going on around you and your students.

From your TIP plan you outlined that students working in the off line collaborative model use pen and paper resources and the online collaborative model uses typed contributions. To what degree to you think the formality of answers will be affected by being required to type the answers as apposed to write by hand. How do you see this impacting their performance during the ap exam (when they have to write by hand)?
Have you stipulated the exact terms for collaboration to students in the inquiry? The reason i ask is because i was thinking about the change in dynamic that surrounds online collaboration versus face to face collaboration. Have you considered the degrees in which personalities change when online and the level of inhibition. One thing i was wondering was weather you were able to allow anonymous contributions as this could lead to interesting differences in assumptions on the value of individual contributions as dominant personalities and smart reputations may be less of a factor in the decision to edit.
